Is it possible to combine brick walls, old windows, antique doors, and other architectural elements of the old building with modern design? The answer is definitely YES!
The description above matches our new project of an apartment on Vitovsky Street in Lviv. We are talking about the house of the Polish architect Józef Awin, built in the early 1930s in the Art Deco style with elements of Cubism. We restored components of the historic building: wooden beams and ceilings, interior doors, wooden window frames, and parquet with a classic herringbone pattern, removed plaster from the walls, and cut a brickwork opening, creating the space where future landlords will spend their time. A fireplace in the living room complements the concept of the apartment.
We preferred the Prussian shade of blue, also known as Berlin azure or iron blue. Wood, marble, and open brick became principal materials. The decor turned out to be a perfect eye-catcher through the bright art objects. The author of such contemporary paintings from the "Memoria" edition is a Ukrainian artist Myroslava Bachkur.
For a more comfortable lifestyle, we managed to expand the bedroom space and the bathroom space. By dismantling the interior partitions, we were capable of merging the kitchen and the living room.
